American Major Stanley Gould 

is standing with me in front of 

the wall surrounding the 

DP (Displaced Persons) Camp

in Foerenwald, Bavaria, near

Munich in July of 1945. 

     Major Gould, a veteran of the 

Battle of the Bulge, became a 

member of the American Military

Government in Bavaria. 

     This American Major was a relative of mine who actually set out to look for me, know-

ing that I was the only family

survivor in Europe.

     He sketched up a family tree, 

but since at the time I spoke  

no English, we had to find a

translator who helped us to 

communicate with each other.
